An earthen berm can provide flood protection and creekside trails

Even with added water detention in Don Castro, there is about 3,500 linear feet along the concrete-lined channel where water might still overflow. Adding about 3 feet of height (which could be earthen and used for trails) could eliminate that possible flooding.

Even with added water detention in Don Castro, there is about 3,500 linear feet of flood wall that will need to be constructed along the concrete-lined channel. The new flood wall will provide 3 feet of additional protection beyond the 1% flood stage. This wall could be earthen and used for trails.
